Calum Mackenzie was born at 1.59am on the 4th February 2011. His mother Margaret died just over four hours later at 6.20am. She was 37 years old. She was my wife for just over 12 years. Calum suffered severe oxygen starvation and it was touch and go whether he would survive. This blog will record his progress. Calum has 4 siblings (ages at time of writing): Jane 11; Mark 10; Sarah 8; Paul 6.
Derick, Calum is absolutely beautiful, I hope he is improving enough so that you can take him home soon. Our hearts ache for you at this sad time and the difficult emotional trauma of grief on one hand and joy on the other with the birth of a new baby.
