Calum Mackenzie was born at 1.59am on the 4th February 2011. His mother Margaret died just over four hours later at 6.20am. She was 37 years old. She was my wife for just over 12 years.
Calum suffered severe oxygen starvation and it was touch and go whether he would survive. This blog will record his progress. Calum has 4 siblings (ages at time of writing): Jane 11; Mark 10; Sarah 8; Paul 6.

Calum has had his breathing tubes removed and is now breathing on his own. The remnants of the drugs he was on are still in his body so he is still quite dopey.
Every day has brought improvement which is a real boost. I took this clip today.
I live in Oban and my cousins husband was Margarets Uncle,we heard the tragic news from her,we send our love and prayers are for you all at this very sad time, may the Lord give you the strength to cope with the days ahead and that your little son will get through this and live to grow up as a bright witness for the Lord as his mother was.
Hi Derick. We heard the tragic news at the week-end. The folks in Bethesda Church Fraserburgh have been remembering you and all the family in their prayers. May the Lord be very near to you all and be your comfort at this sad time. David and Helen Runcie, Fraserburgh
Hello, I dont know you or Margaret, though I was in school with some of her siblings. I just wanted to say how sorry I was to hear of this tragic news. I have been thinking about you and your family a lot this week. I am pleased to hear that the little one seems to be improving and I hope this continues.
What a beautiful wee boy! It is so very hard to know what to write under these circumstances, Derick. I have long appreciated your posts to Facebook (we have several mutual friends). Now you are PROVING that with the Lord ALL things are possible! Please know that you are very much in my thoughts and prayers, but also in those of friends here in the Greater Geneva area. Brothers and Sisters you might not meet this side of Eternity are remembering you in prayer to the One whose promises can never fail. We all send you and the children our love in Jesus! Jenny
